1 What is a cachepot
A cachepot is simply a decorative outer pot: the plant goes in, nursery pot and all. You keep everything the nursery pot does well, you get to choose a good-looking outer pot, and you never have to worry about whether that outer pot breathes.

2 Why we recommend cachepots
1. It protects the roots. The nursery pot has plenty of holes in the base, so air moves through, the roots grow well, and water cannot sit and rot them.
2. It is more forgiving. For most beginners, watering is the hard part: too little and the plant dies, too much and the roots rot. Because a cachepot breathes, even a first-time owner can keep the plant healthy.
3. It is convenient. You can swap the outer pot whenever you like, with none of the mess of repotting.

Three: where a cachepot works
Cachepots suit indoors and outdoors, but especially indoors, where the air is still. For large plants and difficult ones, this is the method that stops people becoming plant killers.
You may worry the plastic pot will show and spoil the look. In fact a little coir around the rim hides it completely and looks entirely natural. In the photo below, the coir is what you can see at the top of the pot.
